Is the future of motorhomes electric? An all-electric motorhome concept has been shown by Dethleffs (part of the Erwin Hymer Group). The motorhome is solely reliant on electricity and is powered by three sodium-nickel chloride batteries which enable a travel distance of 111 miles. Electricity powers everything, including the heating and kitchen cooking elements. Photovoltaic foil with a layer of solar cells covers the motorhome to allow it to produce electricity to assist with recharging the batteries.

The Erwin Hymer Group are currently further developing the battery capacity and intend to release the motorhome on the market when the batteries can power a travel distance of 310 miles. It’s an interesting glimpse into what may become a motorhome standard one day.
